Power Line Alerts – A New Layer of Safety

We’re excited to announce a brand-new safety feature for our Adventurer plan pilots: Power Line Alerts.
When you’re flying low — whether skimming along a river or dipping down for a closer look — Gaggle will now warn you if a power line is directly ahead on your flight path.

⚡️ How It Works

• Alerts are triggered when:
  • You are below 300 ft AGL
  • A mapped power line is directly ahead
  • You are on track to intersect it within the next 1 minute 30 seconds
• You’ll hear an alert tone and a spoken audio cue.
• Think of it as an extra layer of peace of mind for those hard-to-spot hazards, but not as a replacement for vigilance.
• You can turn off alerts in the audio cue settings.

🌍 Not All Power Lines Are Mapped

We have alot of the world’s power lines mapped, but not all of them. That’s where you come in!
You can help keep yourself and the community safer by contributing missing lines to OpenStreetMap.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Do alerts work for everyone?

No. Power Line Alerts are available only on the Adventurer subscription plan.

Will Gaggle warn me about every power line?

No. We can only warn you about power lines that are mapped in OpenStreetMap. That’s why contributions from the community are so important.

Can I rely on this instead of watching out?

Absolutely not. Gaggle is a safety aid, not a replacement for vigilance. You must always follow VFR rules and keep your eyes open.

Why 1 minute 30 seconds?

This window gives you enough time to react while still keeping warnings relevant to your current heading and speed.

We hope this new feature gives you an extra layer of confidence and awareness during low-level flying. Every mapped line makes a difference — so consider contributing if you notice missing ones in your area.
